Bubbles X Boomer:

Black Rock Life of Reilly: Reilly1210 (blue collar boy - black male) at 7.5 weeks.  (3/11/01) Hi there! I just thought I would update you on Reilly's progress. I don't know if I told you, but his registered name is Black Rock Life of Reilly. At 4.5 months, he is 52 pounds-he is still on 3 meals per day, and while the vet keeps telling me that he will eventually lose interest in one of these meals, I think he would be more interested in 4 or 5 meals per day, ha ha. Reilly is completely potty trained, although it is sometimes difficult to tell when he wants to go out. He does not bark and is pretty mellow, and he usually just sits in front of me and stares, as if willing me through brain waves to get up and open the door. He is a funny boy. People keep telling me to hang a bell on the door, but with Reilly, everything is food and I know it would disappear. Reilly loves to run and play, and has even taken a few dips in Puget Sound. Our favorite place is Lincoln Park, which has a quiet beach along the Sound as well as large grassy areas and tree-lined hiking trails. We also enjoy our walks around Green Lake, which is a doggy mecca here :-) Reilly enjoys meeting new people (he is very gentle with babies and children) and is always happy to play with new canine pals at the park. He has a sweet, happy disposition and I can't take him anywhere that someone doesn't come up to tell me what a beautiful dog he is. Reilly recently completed his Puppy Manners class at the Family Dog Training Center run by Kathy Lang. He will begin his first Competition Obedience Class at the end of March. I am also preparing him for the Canine Good Citizen Test. Reilly learns very quickly and enjoys the socialization with the other dogs. Reilly experienced his first earthquake last week and it was a big one - 6.8 on the richter scale. I can't say that either one of us enjoyed it but things are getting back to normal now. Reilly has moved from sleeping in his crate to sleeping on the bed with me-something that was supposed to be temporary but has now developed into a permanent routine. I hope all is well in Indiana, and thanks again for Reilly-I can't tell you how much I love this little (relatively speaking) black dog!

1/28/02 ReillySnow I cannot believe it has been a year since I brought Reilly home! He now weighs 90 pounds, and while he still has that "puppy face", he is filling out and developing into a strong, handsome dog. I receive many compliments on his intelligence, structure, and obedient demeanor, but the thing I love most about him is his incredibly sweet personality-he is definitely a lover! After a month-long break over the holidays, we have resumed his competition training and he is excelling at his Utility work. We have completed Competition Obedience Courses 1 through 5 (Novice and Open) and started Utility last term. I am always amazed at how quickly he learns, which is helped by his strong desire to please. He loves to work and is such a ham that I know he will enjoy showing once we start competing this summer. He is also scheduled to take his Canine Good Citizen test in March. Other than that, Reilly enjoys romping with his canine friends (he loves to be chased) at Marymoor Park (a large, offleash, dog training park). He always must be carrying something in his mouth and loves to be by my side. Thanks again for such a great dog!  On 7/6/02: Reilly passed his CGC today! He is such a good boy. Hi there,I just wanted to let you know that the "boys" have their own web site at reillyandmurphy.

1/12/03  Hi Linda and Dale,I just wanted to let you know that Reilly earned two legs of his CD at the Western Washington cluster this weekend. As it was only his first and second time ever to enter obedience at an AKC show (Tacoma Kennel Club on Friday and Sammamish Kennel Club on Saturday), I am very proud of my boy. Also, I can't tell you how many compliments I received at the shows regarding Reilly-both Boomer and Bubbles have passed on their fabulous heads and sweet temperaments. He's more of a regal/stately dog as opposed to the happy-go-lucky (tail constantly wagging) type of Lab.   Darlene :-)

On 2/1/03 Reilly earned his third qualifying Novice Obedience Score (4th time ever in the ring) to earn his CD obedience title at the Seattle Kennel Club (all breed) show. He was also the third highest scoring dog (out of 20), which earned him a third place ribbon. I will send you a copy of the official photo once it is ready.

The spectators were all very taken with Reilly (he is just a very sweet dog, and his face/head draws a crowd), and it was nice to get so much positive feedback about him. He is in 7th heaven right now.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the good news with you. I am attaching a pic of Reilly that I took recently-he is a handsome boy.

5//25/03 Reilly earned the second leg of his Junior Hunter Title at the Oregon Hunting Retriever Club Hunt Test on Sauvie Island (on the Columbia River near Portland) this weekend.  Reilly (Boomer X Bubbles) earned his 3rd JH leg today at the Evergreen Golden Retriever Club Hunt Test held at Greenleaf's Farm in Monroe, WA today. There are no more tests until late summer/early Fall, but hopefully he will do Boomer proud and finish his title this year. Darlene

Reilly's Junior Hunt Title

Hi there, Reilly is now officially Black Rock Life of Reilly CD, JH, CC, CGC!

Reilly finished his JH title with style at the Oregon Retriever Trial Club held at Sauvie Island in Portland Oregon yesterday. He had 4 very nice retrieves and received compliments from the judges (Jim Morris and Phil Speer). After Reilly's first retrieve, Jim said he really likes a dog that looks like it knows what it is doing. For all the attitude he gives me at times, it has never diminished his excellent marking ability and he marked those birds dead-on today. He also tried something new and delivered promptly to hand - he was very pleased with himself. Jim said Reilly reminds him of a dog he used to have.   The weather was the best I could have hoped for in mid-July. It was overcast with a nice breeze until about noon, and then the sun beat down hard (although the temp was a pleasant 74 degrees).

Reilly is really enjoying his tracking lessons and is making good progress. We have introduced turns and crosstracks, and he has not had difficulty with these. Our tracks are only about 150-200 yards right now (still using food too), but that is fine. He is still tracking on a short leash, so the next step is to track with a long line (they have to track 20 feet ahead of the handler at the test). We are going to be really busy in the next month and a half, so I am not sure how much time we will have for tracking practice, but we will get there eventually. Barb said that if reilly earns his tracking title, he will win the PSLRA versatility award. I entered Reilly in Open A at the PSLRA specialty August 1-2   Darlene

8/2/03 Linda and Dale, Reilly earned a qualifying score and 1st place in Open A Obedience at the PSLRA Specialty held on Whidbey Island, Langley, WA today! This was Reilly's first time in the Open ring, and it was great to have such a nice performance and earn the 1st CDX leg at the specialty.

Boomer's sister, Can Ch Twigs Dancing With My Shadow CD SH WCX, won the Hunting Retriever Bitch class and a JAM - she is really lovely. Barb and Don are leasing her for a litter in the Winter/Spring.  I hope all is well with you-I just wanted to share out happy news!  Darlene

7/25/04 Hi Linda and Dale! I just wanted to let you know that Reilly earned the second leg of his CDX title today by qualifying with first place in Open A at the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club Show this weekend. He has been working really nicely lately and with the exception of the 3-minute sit (which he likes to do as a 30-second sit/2.5 minute down), has been really solid in the obedience ring. His field work is coming along nicely as well, and he is doing doubles and some sight blinds. He has always been quiet and steady on the line. He won't be ready for the National, but I hope he will be ready to run Senior tests next year. Our Specialty is next weekend and I am looking forward to it-it's always a lot of fun.I hope you guys are doing well!Darlene

10/11/04 Hi Linda and Dale,It was great to see you at the National and I hope you had a safe trip home. Reilly enjoyed seeing his daddy, Boomer-what a nice boy! Reilly is now Black Rock Life of Reilly CDX JH WC CC CGC! He finished his CDX at the LRC National under judge Don L. Schempp on Friday, and on Saturday he passed the WC test under my favorite judges, Dale Brummett and Barb Ironside :-) Reilly's next goals are Utility, Senior Hunter, and a Tracking title. Thanks for breeding such a sweet and wonderful dog!Darlene

Black Rock's Yelboy1230. before leaving Indiana to go to Alabama.  Just wanted to let you know that Drake is doing great. He is coming along nicely. He did his first water retrieve on Friday. He got to go duck hunting with me the last day of the season. The gunfire doesn't bother him at all. It actually gets him excited. I have been working with him on stacking and he is a natural. As long as you have a piece of food he will do anything. I will keep you posted on how he is doing.  2/19/01 Jeff Dasinger

Black Rock Delta Dawn at 8.5 weeks Orange1216. She is retrieving pigeon wings like an expert. Have shot blank pistol while eating, lifted her head and began eating once again. Second shot no response, not even a lift of the head. That's a good thing! Thank you for getting out in that awful weather to meet us. Wonderful to have met you, Boomer and Bubbles. Will keep in touch with you and keep you up to date on her progress.

Rose1216.(Rose collar girl)

1/14/02 It has been just over a year since I visited your home to pick up my beautiful female black lab "Taylor." She has truely blossomed into a beautiful dog and has brought many smiles to family and friends. Not a day passes by with out receiving multiple compliments on Taylor's shiny coat, and behavior. She has completed basic obedient training, and currently will attend advanced training classes.

Taylor at 10 months old after retrieving her bumper. Hi! Long time no talk. Well, I am watching Taylor for Chris while he is in Africa for 10 days. I just went on the web site and WOW! I can't wait to be ready for another dog. I am coming straight to you. I was looking for my favorite yellow lab that I loved so much when I was up there. I always said, after meeting Bubbles, that I want one of her puppies!  I hope all is well with you both. I hope you enjoy the pictures I am sending. Taylor is a gem and such a beautiful girl. She got her hips done and they came back with an "excellent" rating. She is precious. I know she is the light of Chris' life. TaylorCullen.(Yellow collar girl) TaylorSaxton Thanks again for the amazing puppy...She is living the life in FT. Lauderdale, Fla. Our friends love little Taylor. Other than her following cristaylor around everywhere and Payton (my Springer) treating her like she was his, Taylor is doing great. I think Payton thinks that Taylor is his puppy. He doesn't care about anything else, not even food, when she is around. They play well together and Payton is gentle. Taylor has no fear and attacks Payton all the time. Chris loves her. He is so happy. I hope all is well and you didn't get too much snow. Take Care, Joani

Dale and Linda, Congratulations on the new liter 8/10/02. For the past two years we have enjoyed the company of our beautiful black labrador TAYLOR. She has grown up to be a beautiful girl and a wonderful companion. Taylor enjoys swimming in our pool, running on the golf course, chasing ducks and squirrels, and most of all companionship with her owner. She has brought so much love and excitement to my life.

8/15/02 My reason to email is a follow up reminder in my pursuit to own another beautiful Labrador. Taylor is approaching 2 years on Oct. 17th, 2002 and I would like to get her a brother or sister. Again, I live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Thanks again Dale and Linda for the amazing job you both have in raising these wonderful companions. Thank you, Christopher Cullen and TAYLOR Cullen.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that Jazzy, our black lab is so in love with her. They have hit it off and become each others shadow. She has completed our little family. :) Bill has taken some pictures on the digital, I will send them to you. Thank you so much for Maddie. She is just a sweetheart! Take Care and I will keep you posted on how she is doing.  Here is a picture of Maddie in the snow. She is doing great! Shannon Kennedy

Dec. 2004 from Bill and Janet ....Here's a photo of our poor mistreated boy "Gunner" on Christmas Eve.....Note that "Mama Ducky" is still intact... He's very careful of it. Have had to wash it once so far and it's about due for another..All's well, and we hope it is in Indiana too....The best for the New Year......Bill Cass

Gunner's New Webpage 2004 (yellow male) He's happy as can be. "Gunner" is doing splendidly...........He is virtually housebroken, has developed a routine, and actually lets us know when he wants to go out... Janet has been working at home for the past two weeks and this has facilitated the whole process.. He sleeps through the night every night..."Gunner" is definitely a chow hound and loves his food. We had our vet check him out after he'd been with us for a week and he had already gained two pounds. He's getting bigger as we watch, and getting lots of exercise. Loves to go on walks. The sharp teeth have left a few scars here and there, but he's a real sweetheart with a wonderful intelligent disposition. He attended his first Christmas party which was at the home of a friend, and was the hit of the party.. it's a wonder his tail; didn't fall off with all the wagging. I've introduced him to the whistle, and he loves it and will come to you every time you use it. Also the two cats have taken to accepting him warily since he does like to chase them, but they don't leave the room any more when he comes in. All in all "Gunner" is just a superb pup, and he is thriving.....Just thought you'd like to know how he's doing...Bill and Janet Cass - Maine

Sadie123  is doing great! She gets up about twice a night, but she goes out & does her business and goes back in her crate to sleep. No whining in-between! She is so smart! We are having lots of fun with her - the kids hate leaving her to go to school. 12/6/00.

7/27/02 Hi - We are good friends of the Husselman family and just visited them this week. They got their dog Sadie from you in December of 2000. Sadie is one of the most lovable well behaved dogs I have met. We just recently began researching dog breeds and breeders. We have three sons (9,6, & 4) and we are ready to add a dog to our family. I know that Sadie has been very well trained but she also has a great temperament. I would like some information on your upcoming litters. We are looking for a black female. We live in suburban Chicago but have know no problem with a drive to Indiana. Thank you - Judy Rosenthal
