8/25/08  Hi Dale, I cannot believe it has been over a month since we picked Gus up. He had a terrific ride back to Chicago and fell asleep after only 20 mins of leaving Black Rock Labs. Since then he has been full of energy and fun. We believe he is going to take after Bravo as he is currently gaining 2-3 pounds per week. He is quite a looker; I have lost count of the number of people who have pulled over on our walks to get a closer look at Gus. Gus is eager to learn and loves everyone he meets. After a few weeks he was walking on his leash, going up and down stairs, sitting, and laying down. Now he has started to learn shake, stay, leave-it, and to stay seated when kids ride by on their bikes. Initially, Gus preferred our gated kitchen to his puppy crate, but now he has a larger wired crate that he seems to enjoy as much as the tiled kitchen floor. Housetraining has required very little work (aside from having to get up in the middle of the night for the 1st few weeks) as Gus has insisted to go outside from the 1st day we got home. He has only had a handful of accidents and most occurred during the 1st few weeks (our neighbors with puppies are very impressed by this). We are getting ready for Gus’s 2nd kindergarten class…he really enjoyed playing with the other puppies last week and was even gentle to the smaller breed pups. I hope you are enjoying the remaining of your summer! Nora

Connor with the House Family, Cicero, IN.

8/11/08  Just a quick note at lunchtime to let you know that Connor is doing very well, growing like the rest of the weeds in the flower beds, and seems so happy. We are totally smitten with him, as you can tell. Went to see Dr. Sweeley last weekend, and weighed in at 16#5oz. By this weekend, its hurting my one wrist a little to pick him up, so those moments are more numbered and precious. He goes very well in the car; we have been to the Farmer’s Market, to Starbucks of course, and to Cool Creek to play in the water a bit. The old people love him, and he gets along very well with our granddaughter, too. She is in charge of “wearing the puppy out” on the weekends.Puppy class doesn’t start till Aug 21, but I think the socialization part is going to be of biggest interest to us. He already has “sit” down pat, and walks pretty darn good on the leash. We started on “down” this past weekend. Kathy
